FAQs
How can I get my event added to Explore Elkin’s event calendar?
If you are hosting a public event in Elkin or the immediate area, the easiest way to get it on our calendar is to create a Facebook Event and let us know once it’s live. We can then add your organization to our calendar system. If you don’t use Facebook or are hosting a one-time event, you’re welcome to email the event details to our Community Engagement and Content Coordinator at gigi@exploreelkin.com. Please include the date, time, location, and any promotional images. We do our best to share events that are open to the community, and our event calendar regularly pulls local events from various digital platforms to keep listings up to date.
Who runs Explore Elkin?
Explore Elkin is supported by the Town of Elkin through the Tourism Development Authority (TDA) and works closely with local volunteers, businesses, and community partners. Together, we promote the area and host events all year long.

How is Explore Elkin different from the Town of Elkin and the Chamber of Commerce?
That’s a great question! We all work together, but our roles are a little different:
-
Explore Elkin focuses on promoting tourism, events, and local experiences to bring people downtown and into our community.
-
The Town of Elkin handles town operations like parks, utilities, and public services.
-
Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce supports local businesses through networking and business development.
You could say the Town keeps Elkin running, the Chamber helps businesses grow, and Explore Elkin helps people discover and enjoy it all.
Why are tourism dollars important for Elkin?
