In a world that moves quickly, Pisgah Needleworks offers something different. It’s a

place rooted in patience, creativity, and the quiet joy of making something with your hands.
Located right here in Elkin, Pisgah Needleworks is built on a simple idea: creativity should feel approachable, relaxing, and deeply personal.
A Tradition Passed Down
For owners Josh and Erin Jenkins, crafting isn’t just a hobby. It’s part of who they are.
Both come from families where creativity was a way of life. Sewing, quilting, embroidery, and handmade art were passed down through generations, creating not just beautiful pieces, but lasting memories. Those traditions shaped the foundation of Pisgah Needleworks and continue to guide everything they do today.
What started as a personal passion has grown into a space where others can experience that same sense of connection. Every kit, fabric bundle, and design reflects a legacy of creating with care.
More Than a Craft

For Josh, cross stitching became something more than just a creative outlet. It became a way to slow down and reset.
He describes his perfect moment simply: sitting in a cozy chair on a cool autumn afternoon, a project in hand, looking out over the trees as the leaves change. It’s a quiet kind of peace, the kind that comes from focusing on something steady and meaningful.
That feeling is at the heart of Pisgah Needleworks. It’s not about rushing to finish a project. It’s about enjoying the process, one stitch at a time.
A Family at the Center

Pisgah Needleworks is truly a family business in every sense.
Josh and Erin, married since 2009, are raising four children together, all adopted through the North Carolina foster care system. Their journey to building a family wasn’t simple, but it shaped the heart behind their work in a powerful way.
Crafting became a way to create connection at home, with afternoons spent working on projects side by side. That same sense of care and intention carries into their business, where every piece is meant to bring comfort, creativity, and meaning into someone else’s life.
Their story is one of resilience, love, and building something beautiful over time, much like the quilts and stitched pieces they create.
Creating Opportunity & Purpose
Pisgah Needleworks is also about creating opportunities for the future.
Their son Carl plays an important role in the shop, often helping customers and sharing his enthusiasm for the craft. Carl is on the autism spectrum, which gives him a unique perspective, a natural passion for creating, and a real enthusiasm for sharing crafting with our community. Crafting is something he gravitates toward and a way for him to reset and focus. What once felt like an uncertain path has grown into a place where he can build confidence, independence, and pride in his work.
It’s a reminder that small businesses do more than sell products. They create space for growth, connection, and belonging.
