North Carolina Trail Days is a multi-day festival celebrating the great outdoors, the NC Mountains to Sea Trail, as well as local trails in Elkin. The festival is packed full of a variety of activities and adventures, making it wonderful for all ages to enjoy.
Initially, it was created to celebrate the beautiful Elkin region by allowing individuals to indulge in both the natural beauty of the surrounding areas and appreciate the sense of community within the region. The first annual festival was held in 2019, and it was a large success.
Every festival allows participants to enjoy opportunities such as guided hikes, adventure film night, outdoor-oriented exhibitors and non-profits, kid's events, guest speakers, food trucks/beer garden on Main Street, live music, River Clean Ups, an Overmountain Victory Trail Revolutionary War encampment, mountain bike clinics, demos and rentals, as well as a Tour de Trail road bike ride.
The NC Trail Days Festival is an amazing opportunity for all members of the community to enjoy a beautiful weekend appreciating the beauty that is Elkin. While doing so, event-goers improve community engagement, boost tourism, and help support locally owned small businesses.
This is only a small list of opportunities; there are many more activities festival-goers can look forward to on NC Trail Days weekend. This year’s festival will take place on June 3-6, 2021 but don’t forget to mark your calendars for the first weekend in June every year!
