Held each year on the fourth Saturday of September, this festival favorite transforms Historic Downtown Elkin into a celebration of all things fall and pumpkin. On Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the streets will come alive with music, live performances, handmade local goods, delicious food, family fun, and, of course, some truly massive pumpkins.

The Great Pumpkin Weigh-Off

The crown jewel of the event? The Great Pumpkin Weigh-Off, hosted at the Yadkin Valley Heritage & Trails Visitor Center (257 Standard St.). Starting at 9:00 AM (with registration from 7-9 AM), growers from all over the East Coast roll in with pumpkins and watermelons tipping the scales at well over 1,000 pounds. Each one competes for a coveted spot in the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth Top Ten. For serious growers and curious spectators alike, the weigh-in is a must-see marvel of agriculture and ambition.

Small-Town Charm, Big-Time Fun

The festival isn't just about produce. While the pumpkins are the hype, the Yadkin Valley Pumpkin Festival is a full blown street fair with something for everyone.
